you'll find me in the morning

good support

i saw harry potter for the second time this week. it was therefore the second time that i laughed at rons - yeah im still here - line. and the second time i cried over death of dobby - the cgi elf. the only song used in the film. o children by nick cave and the bad seeds is one of those that makes you want youtube to have a repeat button. today a friend told me to listen to a band. unfortunately im one of those stubborn people who prefers to tell rather then be told. so i tend to forget to listen. bad i know. its a similar trait to wanting do all the cooking youself. for wanting all the praise. however for this next song i will pass on the credit to the un-named friend. they are the second band iv mentioned to support mumford and sons. pattern. they are playing in london on the 16th of december. repeat button. please.

three words you have spoken

hard to get through

i know someone who likes to tell me on a regular basis that all new music is shit. and he is impossible to argue with. but not because he is right. but because he himself is impossible. the main focus of his argument is - why would you want to sound like anything other then the rolling stones. the outcome of this mindset is a continuous and unrelenting playlist of old music. not that thats a bad thing. but its good to be diverse. however there is one band that i have been introduced to from him which does slightly divert. they are not really new. but neither are they old. 1990s. the name merges rolling stones guitarist brian jones and the cult mass suicide of the jonestown massacre. an album title too pays homage to the stones - their satanic majesties second request. now thats one sure fire way to win this guy over.

NEVERTHELESS - brian jonestown massacre

its written on my face, they say, these days

hard to find

i've wanted to put this song up for a while. but a combination not being able to find the song and forgetting its name has caused it to remain hidden within the internet. the key problem with this band is their name. girls. not a bad name for a band. in fact a good name. but try and search it on the internet and you get exactly that. girls. search girls 'the band' to combat getting actual girls. you get a girl band. frustrating. they have a new ep broken dreams club which pitchfork has kindly flagged and subsequently reminded me to not give up on my search for a song i played all last year. its a b side from hell hole rat race their second single. after a trawl through lastfm, pitchfork and google i found it. once again. through trustworthy and reliable wikipedia. its really all you need.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE - department of eagles

we counted them all alone

it is movember

these full grown men may not all have mustaches, but two have beards. the lead singer doug martsch in particular has a mighty beard. i heard this band when their track the weather was put on my first ever mix cd. also. to reference modest mouse again i will turn to a documentary made about the band in 1997. which features elliot smith which is quite cool.  issac brock said of doug that he was one of only three people he thought should be making records. doug in reply said modest mouse exemplify the perfect rock band. any friend of modest mouse...

and all I can think about is a way to get through to them

glacial pace.

modest mouse have been my favorite band since when i was 14 when my friends older sister lent her a mix cd with them on it. isaac brock the lead singer used to do a&r for subpop. he has since started his own label. glacial pace. if you go on the website the page plays a selection of songs from their acts. the first is mimicking birds. a song called burning stars. having not been on their myspace for about a year they now have new songs. they are moving forward. this one is called 10%.

the pain will all grow out

i used to dance.

two years ago i got introduced to coco rosie. whilst youtubing their music i found this random girl called alexa anderson dancing to 'warewolf'. i stopped youtubing cocoroise. i started youtubing alexa. i know its weird to watch videos of a random girl dancing. but to understand you really have to watch. it is because of this that i found the song relief by chris garneau. she dances a duet to it. the reason for posting the dancing video and not chris garneaus one is two fold. one: it is the best dance in the world. like all strictly final routines in one. times ten. two: the version of this song that chris g decided to actually release is. for want of a better word. a bit shit. he breaths funny in it.
